Websites for small businesses and start-ups
Wed 11th Dec 2013
One of the services I offer is one page small business start up websites. This is simply an online brochure with details of who you are, what you do, where you are and how to contact you. Perfect if you have a limited start up budget.
A professionally built website sets you up with a great basis for the future. Everything I build can be expanded on in the future as your business grows, and with the solid foundation of a well built site from the outset this can save you money and time in the future. We can even put together a plan for the growth of your site from the outset.
If you do choose to use a free or very cheap template based website and hosting service do your research first, often these free or apparent cheap services have hidden charges such as fees if you choose to move away or, while the cost of building the site is small, monthly hosting charges are high and you are tied in for a set period. Sometimes the website is strictly limited in size or data transfer (so if you suddenly receive lots of traffic and exceed your allowance, your website becomes unavailable) so when your business is ready for something bigger and better you might need to transfer away from it anyway. Often template based sites are based on dated coding methods which don't cater for tablets and smart phones, which excludes or creates a frustrating browsing experience for a growing number of users.
With websites you really do get what you pay for, a well structured basic website which is built with future growth in mind is far more valuable to an ambitious start up business than a freebie site which could be restrictive or troublesome to move away from when your business outgrows it.
